September of 1850, Harriet Tubman officially became one of the “conductors” of the Railroad; she was aware of all the routes and territory. Her first rescue was to help her sister and her two children from the slavery. ("More Info about Harriet Tubman", 2014) Her hard work paid off and she ended up rescuing over three hundred slaves in the South not leaving one behind. ("Underground Railroad | Facts", 2013) Her efforts did not go unnoticed and fellow abolitionist and leaders articulated their gratitude and acknowledgement through their speeches and letters.
